Hello, HyFlex Learning Community members!

We are well into the Fall/Winter Holiday season already! Are you ready for that? Most institutions have their Winter and Spring schedules published and students are registering for next year's classes. How many of those classes are offered in HyFlex for the very first time? I'm heading back to the classroom for my first set of true HyFlex class offerings since March 2020, and I can't wait to welcome students back in person - should they choose to attend that way.

Recent HyFlex Publications

There are several recent publications in the HyFlex literature we want to highlight for you.

First, we added a new case report chapter to the Hybrid-Flexible Course Design book. John Doyle of Cabrini University writes about his experience teaching a video production class during the pandemic in HyFlex mode with three participation options! There were some limitations on students due to public health measures, but overall the students still largely chose their participation preference and were supported in learning how to produce video in a professional setting. Amazing! You can read it here: https://edtechbooks.org/hyflex/practical_experience

Second, Cecelia Wigal from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, published a journal article about teaching the design process to freshmen students in a "project-based, collaborative, and experiential learning" HyFlex course during the pandemic. (We're seeing more pandemic-influenced HyFlex papers being published and presented in conferences this year - more to come, I'm sure!)
