1. HyFlex Learning Community Gathering (webinar)
Our next webinar will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 on the topic of AI in Support of HyFlex Teaching and Learning. We have all been experiencing changes to our professional work with the advent of powerful AI tools that are now available to support our thinking and our work tasks. GenAI tools, in particular, provide us with new ways to generate course, lesson, and activity designs and materials. We can use GenAI to help us assess learning, support student learning, and prepare our students for what comes next for them. But how does this impact our work in a HyFlex course setting? What do these new tools provide that we can leverage to make our work easier? better? more productive? We will discuss several specific examples used at various stages of HyFlex design and teaching. Bring your own stories and examples to share and please join us on May 22nd! Register now: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hyflex-learning-community-gathering-may-2024-registration-905077299567

The UKEN Report (an independent Coachella Valley CA news site) describes how the College of the Desert (CA Community College) uses HyFlex courses "... which are built using an adaptable course structure that allows students to fit education into their lifestyle. Students attend in person, through live-stream, or online via Zoom. With HyFlex and Fast Track classes, COD delivers customized education" to better support students. Other efforts to accelerate achievement at COD include lowering the cost of instructional materials and expanding the number of units students are allowed to complete each term.
A final reminder: HyFlex Course Design Workshop - Now available in both synchronous and asynchronous modes!
Our next HyFlex Course Design "synchronous" workshop is scheduled for June 3-7, 2024. This workshop includes daily 90-minute online meetings for information and discussion. The synchronous sessions are optional and highly recommended. Asynchronous participation is fully supported in this week-long workshop as well.
New this spring, we have also launched a fully asynchronous, start-and-finish-anytime workshop that is available whenever you are ready to learn. This workshop meets the same outcomes as the synchronous version but does not include any scheduled online meetings. Because there is no synchronous schedule, you can begin at any time and complete this at your own pace.
Contact hyflexlearning@gmail.com for discounted pricing for institutional groups of five or more. More information and the registration links are available at https://www.hyflexlearning.org/workshops/
